Director, Molecular Business Development

We are searching for a talented Director of Molecular Business Development to join our team reporting to the President of PathAI Diagnostics.  The Director of Molecular Business Development will be accountable for identifying and implementing new molecular testing opportunities as well as supporting the COVID franchise within the PathAI Diagnostics division.  This person will work closely with cross-functional teams throughout the Diagnostics organization as well as with key external clients.  The ideal candidate is someone who is a strategic thinker, with molecular diagnostics experience, and is ready to apply their skill sets in a fast-paced and growing company and is excited to shape the new category of AI-powered pathology.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Create New Molecular Business Opportunities
    • Create a strategic plan for new product(s) and/or service(s) for the Molecular business unit, in partnership with our Diagnostic Division’s Chief Scientific Officer and Product Marketing teams.  Ensure investments and major initiatives incorporate broader strategic considerations
    • Launch new molecular offerings to help impact overall growth of the Diagnostics Division and help grow current offerings to continue to drive overall company value
    • Field incoming client leads to understand fit, needs and pricing structure, which may include presenting various options and/or developing client-specific programs
    • Provide guidance on available RFP/RFQs to senior leadership and coordinate responses
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on the molecular testing offered and use that knowledge to clearly articulate to prospective and existing clients
    • Stay up-to-date on the latest research and regulatory requirements
  • Optimize Existing COVID Business
    • Consult with prospective clients on COVID testing programs and support community testing efforts 
    • Onboard new clients and maintain existing client relationships 
    • Provide ongoing client communications and training as well as reporting updates  
    • Execute launch of COVID + Flu combo assay to clients in coordination with Chief Science Officer, IT and operations


  • Bachelor's degree in a business administration, scientific or a related field with 10+ years experience; or MBA, PhD or MD with 5+ years of experience in healthcare business development
  • Experience in molecular diagnostics is preferred.  Experience in sales or business development is also desired.  
  • Strategic thinker who possesses strong business judgment and the ability to identify and evaluate opportunity at the business, commercial, and development perspectives 
  • Experience in building and launching a SaaS, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech product/service
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical & clinical information clearly and effectively
  • Proven track record that demonstrates top business development/sales accomplishments
  • Notable interpersonal skills with a passion and enthusiasm for driving new client relationships and providing unparalleled service to prospects and clients
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with presenting recommendations and strategies to senior-level management
  • Demonstrated experience with cross-functional communication and internal stakeholder management
