Where You Fit

We are searching for a highly motivated Cytotechnologist to perform all cyto-prep, processing, and screening of cytology specimens reporting to the Cytology Supervisor in our Diagnostics Division.  The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for healthcare with a strong attention to detail and is ready to apply their skill set in a fast-paced and growing company helping shape AI-powered pathology. 

What You’ll Do

  • Accession and process all GYN and Non-GYN specimens
  • Stain all GYN and Non-GYN specimens
  • Coverslip all GYN and Non-GYN specimens
  • Make labels, label slides, and verify patient identification with requisition and corresponding slides
  • Screen GYN and Non-GYN cases, make diagnosis, and forward appropriate cases to pathologist for review
  • Assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes for all cases
  • Maintain daily log of all cases screened
  • Review final reports for accuracy, sign reports, forward necessary reports to pathologist for signature
  • Maintain on-going log of all abnormal diagnoses by cytotechnologist and pathologist
  • Maintain on-going log of all negative quality control (QC) diagnoses with comparative diagnoses between cytotechnologist and QC screener
  • Document any major discrepant diagnoses between pathologist and cytotechnologist
  • Field phone calls relating to Cytology Department (i.e. results, supplies, talking to pathologist concerning cases)
  • Maintain on-going log of cytology/histology correlations with documentation of cases that need to be rescreened for QC purposes
  • Follow-up on all patients with a HGSIL diagnosis or higher to make sure patient has been appropriately followed-up
  • Screen CEIC test slides for continuing education purposes
  • Do monthly report on cytotechnologist overall abnormal rate, ASCUS/LGSIL ratio, ASCUS rate, LGSIL rate, HGSIL rate, # minor discrepancies, # major discrepancies, and total # of cases screened
  • Do monthly report on laboratory overall abnormal rate by diagnosis (see above)
  • Compile yearly statistics on all monthly reports generated (i.e. abnormal rates, diagnoses, # slides screened, # unsatisfactories, etc)
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor or manager as deemed appropriate

What You Bring

  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • CG ASCP Certified 
  • 2+ years of experience in a lab setting preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong prioritization, planning and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, able to multi-task in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the laboratory
