VIMENTIN

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) · All
Vimentin is a 57 kDa intermediate filament protein which forms part of the cytoskeleton of vertebrate cells and is characteristically found in cells of mesenchymal origin. The coexpression of intermediate filaments, particularly vimentin and cytokeratin, has been demonstrated in a variety of normal cells/tissues and in neoplastic lesions, necessitating the use of antibodies against other types of intermediate filaments. The antibody is useful for the identification of cells of mesenchymal origin in normal and neoplastic tissues.
