MSH-2

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) · Gastroenterology, Women's Health
MSH2 is a mismatch repair gene which is deficient in a high proportion of patients with microsatellite instability (MSI-H). This finding is associated with the autosomal dominant condition known as hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPCC). The anti-MSH2 antibody is useful in screening patients and families for this condition. It has been shown that colon cancers that are microsatellite unstable have a better prognosis than their microsatellite stable counterparts.1-8 Anti-MSH2 is utilized in an IHC panel that includes anti-MLH1, anti-MSH6, and anti-PMS2.
