D2-40

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) · All
Identifies the ~38 kDa O-linked transmembrane sialoglycoprotein podoplanin, which is expressed in the endothelium of lymphatic capillaries, but not in the blood vasculature (1). Besides the expression in lymphatic endothelium, podoplanin is also found in a variety of other tissues, including mesothelial cells, reticular cells, follicular dendritic cells, ovarian and testicular germ cells (2). Anti-Podoplanin, Clone D2-40 labels lymphatic endothelium whereas it is unreactive with vascular endothelium. In neoplastic tissue, immunostaining of lymphatic endothelium by the antibody has been shown to be useful in identifying lymphatic invasion of primary tumors.
