Blazej Zbytek, MD
Director of Dermatopathology
Dr. Zbytek received his medical degree at the Medical University of Gdansk, Poland. He then moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he pursued a career in investigative dermatology that resulted in more than 80 original publications, abstracts, reviews and book chapters. His research interests included biology of melanoma, psoriasis and vitiligo. He continued his training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, completing his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology. He completed a fellowship in surgical pathology at Emory University and a fellowship in dermatopathology at the UTHSC in Memphis under the direction of Drs. Andrzej Slominski, Barry Randall and Thomas Chesney. Dr. Zbytek has practiced dermatopathology and surgical pathology in Memphis and Atlanta, GA. He has been involved in the education of dermatology and pathology residents and received an UTHSC Outstanding Contribution Teaching Award. Dr. Zbytek is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, International Society of Dermatopathology and American Society of Dermatopathology where he served as a member of the Quality Assurance Committee.
